Both a'Chlair Bhig is a settlement of beehive shielings located in Ross-shire, Scotland. These circular stone structures, constructed without mortar, represent the traditional summer pastoral dwellings used by Highlands communities for transhumance herding practices, likely dating to the medieval or early modern period. The beehive form, created by corbelled dry stone construction, provided shelter whilst minimizing the use of scarce timber resources in upland terrain. Such shielings are characteristic of Highland settlement patterns and reflect the seasonal movement of livestock to summer pastures in mountainous regions.
