History & significance

Bowl barrow 800m west of Airman's Corner on Winterbourne Stoke Down is a Neolithic or Bronze Age funerary monument situated in the Stonehenge landscape of Wiltshire. The barrow takes the form of a simple bowl-shaped mound, the most common type of burial cairn constructed during the Bronze Age across southern Britain. Located within the densely clustered barrow cemetery of Winterbourne Stoke Down, this monument is one of several surviving examples that demonstrate the importance of this upland area as a burial ground for successive prehistoric communities.
