The Normanton Down round barrow cemetery is a Bronze Age funerary complex located near Stonehenge in Wiltshire, comprising multiple burial mounds constructed during the second millennium BC. Within this cemetery stand a bowl barrow and disc barrow, both characteristic forms of Bronze Age monument in which burials were accompanied by grave goods indicative of social status. The bowl barrow represents the most common barrow type of the period, distinguished by its simple hemispherical mound, whilst the disc barrow consists of a low central mound surrounded by a ditch and outer bank, a form particularly prevalent in Wessex during the Bronze Age. These monuments collectively demonstrate the intensive funerary use of the Normanton Down landscape and reflect the ritual and burial practices of Bronze Age communities in prehistoric Wiltshire.
