The site comprises two distinct barrow forms, with the bowl barrow representing the simpler mound type characteristic of earlier Bronze Age burial practice, whilst the bell barrow displays the more elaborate form featuring a central mound surrounded by a ditch and outer bank that became prevalent in the later Bronze Age. Both monuments survive as earthwork features on Graffham Down and are recorded within the national heritage list as evidence of prehistoric ritual and burial activity in the South Downs region.
