Caersws Roman Fort and Vicus is a Roman military installation and associated civilian settlement located in Powys, Wales, dating to the second century AD. The fort was established as part of Rome's control of mid-Wales, serving as a strategic outpost along the road network that connected the legionary fortress at Caerleon with other installations in the territory of the Ordovices. The vicus, or civilian settlement, developed adjacent to the fort and accommodated merchants, craftspeople, and families who serviced the military garrison. Archaeological investigation has revealed structural remains and artefacts characteristic of Roman occupation, with the designated section in the southern part of the vicus representing an important area of civilian activity within this frontier settlement.
