Cairnfield is a Bronze Age field system and ring cairn located 650 metres east of Moorside Farm in Derbyshire. The site comprises a ring cairn, a circular stone monument typical of Bronze Age funerary or ritual practice, together with an associated field system of clearance cairns and boundary features that demonstrate prehistoric agricultural land organisation. The scatter of cairns across the landscape reflects the Bronze Age practice of clearing stones from cultivated ground whilst simultaneously creating enduring monuments and territorial markers. This combination of domestic landscape features and funerary or ceremonial architecture provides evidence of settlement patterns and subsistence strategies during the second millennium BC.
