Cambodunum is a Roman auxiliary fort located at Slack in the Pennines of West Yorkshire, England, occupied during the first and second centuries AD as part of the military infrastructure controlling the upland regions of Roman Britain. The fort was established in the early imperial period and served as a strategic garrison point along the route connecting the legionary fortress at Chester to the northern frontier. Archaeological investigation has revealed the remains of stone fortifications, internal buildings, and associated vicus settlement structures, providing evidence of the fort's role in administering and defending this remote upland territory. The site represents an important example of Roman military occupation in the Yorkshire Pennines during the occupation of Britain under the Roman Empire.
