Camp Knowe is a univallate hillfort situated approximately 700 metres north-west of Clennell in Northumberland. The monument comprises a single defensive rampart enclosing an area on the elevated ground, characteristic of Iron Age fortified settlements in northern Britain. Its univallate design, with a single line of defences rather than multiple concentric ramparts, represents a common hillfort type across the upland regions of Northumberland during the Iron Age period. The site remains an important archaeological record of prehistoric territorial occupation and settlement patterns in the Anglo-Scottish borderlands.
