Camp S of Old Hall Sarn is a medieval ringwork located in Wales, designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument (SAM MG137) under Cadw's protection. The site comprises a substantial earthwork comprising a circular or oval enclosure defined by a bank and ditch, characteristic of Welsh defensive settlements from the eleventh to thirteenth centuries. Such ringworks served as fortified residences for the native Welsh gentry and marcher lords during the medieval period, providing both domestic accommodation and military protection during a time of significant political instability and territorial conflict in Wales. The earthwork survives as an important example of medieval Welsh settlement archaeology, preserving evidence of the defensive strategies and settlement patterns of the medieval Welsh landscape.
