Castell Brogyntyn is a ringwork castle situated approximately 300 metres north-east of Brogyntyn Farm near Oswestry in Shropshire. The monument comprises a circular or oval defensive earthwork, characteristic of the ringwork form which was prevalent in the Welsh Marches during the late eleventh and twelfth centuries. The site represents a typical example of the fortified settlements established during the Norman period to consolidate control over the border region between England and Wales. The earthwork survives as a raised platform with surrounding ditch, though the original timber or stone structures that would have occupied the interior have not survived above ground level.
