Castle Haven is a Iron Age dun situated on a promontory in Castle Haven Bay, Kirkcudbrightshire, in the south-west of Scotland. The monument consists of the remains of a stone-built defensive structure characteristic of the Iron Age period in Scotland, with evidence of substantial stone walls that would have provided both habitation and protection for its occupants. The dun's location on a naturally defensible coastal promontory reflects the strategic considerations typical of Iron Age settlement in south-west Scotland, where such fortified enclosures served as centres of power and control over local territories and maritime access.
