Castle Hill is a Iron Age hillfort situated near Filleigh in north Devon. The monument comprises a univallate earthwork with a single defensive bank and ditch enclosing an oval hilltop position, characteristic of the defended settlements constructed during the later prehistory of south-western Britain. The site commands views across the surrounding landscape and demonstrates the strategic importance of elevated positions in Iron Age settlement patterns. Although specific dating evidence from excavation is limited, Castle Hill is consistent with hillfort construction practices of the Iron Age period, likely dating to the later first millennium before Christ.
