Castle Hill, motte west of Mains of Cargill, is a medieval motte situated near Cargill in Perthshire, Scotland. The site consists of an earthwork mound typical of twelfth-century Norman-influenced fortifications, representing the period of feudal consolidation in Scotland. Such mottes served as the defensive strongholds of local lords and were commonly constructed throughout central Scotland during the high medieval period. The monument survives as an upstanding earthwork that provides evidence of the settlement hierarchy and military organisation of medieval Perthshire.
