Cegin Viaduct is a stone viaduct constructed as part of the Penrhyn Railway, which operated from 1801 to serve the slate quarries and port facilities of the Penrhyn estate in Caernarvonshire. Built in the early nineteenth century, the viaduct exemplifies the engineering requirements of industrial transport infrastructure during the period of slate extraction expansion in North Wales. The structure comprises multiple stone arches spanning the Cegin valley, designed to carry laden wagons from the quarries down towards the harbour at Port Penrhyn. The viaduct remains a significant example of early railway engineering and demonstrates the substantial investment made by the Penrhyn family in developing transport links to exploit the valuable slate resources of the region.
