Clacheranmor, motte E of, is a medieval motte located in Argyllshire, Scotland. The monument represents a form of Norman or Anglo-Norman fortification typical of the 12th and 13th centuries, when such earthwork castles were constructed across Scotland to assert feudal control. The site consists of an artificial mound characteristic of motte-and-bailey fortifications, which would originally have supported a wooden or stone structure atop its summit.
