Clyn Pattel Motte & Bailey is a motte and bailey fortification located in Pembrokeshire, Wales, dating to the Norman period of medieval Wales. The site comprises a substantial earthen motte, the characteristic steep-sided mound typical of Norman defensive architecture, accompanied by an associated bailey or outer enclosure, remains which are visible in the modern landscape. Such fortifications were established throughout Pembrokeshire during the Norman conquest and settlement of South Wales in the late eleventh and twelfth centuries, serving as centres of military control and administrative authority. The monument is recorded in the Cadw heritage register and remains an important example of Norman castle-building strategy in the region.
