Cnoc Mhic Eoghainn is a medieval motte located 170 metres west-south-west of Ballimore in Argyllshire, Scotland. The monument represents a typical example of motte-and-bailey fortification, a form of defensive earthwork that became prevalent in Scotland following Norman influence in the twelfth century. The motte itself comprises an artificially raised mound, characteristic of the period, which would have originally supported a timber palisade and central tower structure. Such mottes served as symbols of feudal authority and functioned as administrative and defensive centres for their local lords during the medieval period.
