Counterscarp rath is an Early Christian period ringfort located in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. The monument comprises a circular or sub-circular earthwork with a defensive bank and ditch system characteristic of Early Christian settlement enclosures, dating to approximately the fifth to tenth centuries. Such raths served as fortified homesteads for families of rank and were significant settlement forms throughout early medieval Ireland. The site's physical remains preserve evidence of the domestic and defensive architecture typical of Early Christian territorial occupation in Ulster.
