Cove Coastal Battery is a fortification located approximately 1100 metres north-north-east of Cove in Ross-shire, Scotland. The battery dates from the Napoleonic Wars period, when coastal defences were constructed around Britain to counter the threat of French invasion. The site comprises earthwork fortifications typical of early nineteenth-century military engineering, designed to mount artillery pieces in defence of the Moray Firth approaches. Such batteries formed part of a broader network of coastal defences established along the Scottish east coast during this period of heightened strategic vulnerability.
