Coventry city walls is a late medieval fortification enclosing the centre of Coventry in Warwickshire. The walls were constructed primarily during the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, representing a significant investment in urban defence during the later Middle Ages. Substantial sections of the wall survive today, notably including the reconstructed section near Coventry Cross and portions preserved within the modern street plan, though much has been lost or heavily altered since their original construction. The walls originally enclosed an important mercantile centre and served both defensive and symbolic functions, marking Coventry's status as a prosperous medieval city.
