Crom Castle is a post-medieval fortification located in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, constructed during the seventeenth century as a defensive structure by the English planter class. The castle represents the period of consolidation following the Flight of the Earls and the Ulster Plantation, serving as both residence and stronghold for its occupants. The structure exemplifies the architectural conventions of early modern fortified houses, adapted to the needs of settler colonists establishing control over newly acquired Irish lands. The site, now in the care of the National Trust, preserves important evidence of post-medieval settlement patterns and the material culture of the plantation period in Ulster.
