Drumbain Cottage Hut Circles is a Bronze Age settlement site in Inverness-shire comprising three domestic structures positioned at increasing distances eastward across the landscape. The hut circles, located 725 metres, 845 metres and 975 metres east-south-east of the cottage, represent successive phases of highland occupation during the prehistoric period. The site occupies terrain underlain by Moine Supergroup bedrock, ancient metamorphic rocks of gneissose psammite and semipelite formation dating to the Neoproterozoic, which would have provided a stable foundation for these early dwellings.
The three structures demonstrate a pattern of settlement typical of Bronze Age highland communities, where pastoral groups established temporary or semi-permanent bases across moorland and rough pasture. The dispersed arrangement across 250 metres reflects the seasonal or incremental development of this upland settlement zone. The underlying geology of metamorphic schists and sandy rocks would have afforded basic stability for construction whilst the open moorland setting indicates subsistence focused on stock herding rather than cultivation.
