Duck decoy 175m south west of Parson's Farm is a seventeenth-century wildfowl catching installation located near Langport in Somerset. The site represents a form of game management practised extensively across lowland England during the post-medieval period, whereby ducks and other waterfowl were trapped using specially constructed channels and concealed structures. The decoy would have comprised artificial water channels with associated hiding places designed to guide birds into capture areas, reflecting contemporary methods of harvesting wild birds for food and commercial purposes. Such installations became particularly common on estates and in wetland areas during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, though many have since been lost or abandoned as hunting practices changed.
