Dun Borranish is a Late Iron Age dun situated on Uig Sands in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland. The monument comprises a defensive enclosure and an associated causeway, built on bedrock formed from a Palaeoproterozoic felsic igneous intrusion. This ancient geological foundation, laid down over two billion years ago, provided the firm base upon which Iron Age inhabitants constructed their fortified dwelling, creating a structure suited to the exposed coastal environment of the Western Isles.
