Dun Deardail is a pair of Iron Age forts situated in Inverness-shire, approximately 410 metres and 520 metres east-north-east of Fasnagruig. The monuments occupy ground underlain by Middle Old Red Sandstone bedrock, a combination of conglomerate, sandstone, siltstone and mudstone deposited during the Middle Devonian period. This geology would have provided the local community with stone suitable for construction and fortification.
The two forts represent a form of defensive settlement typical of Iron Age Scotland, constructed to command the surrounding landscape.
