Dun Dornaigil is a broch situated in Sutherland in the Scottish Highlands, dating to the Iron Age. The structure survives to a considerable height, retaining much of its characteristic double-walled circular stone construction typical of brochs built in northern Scotland during the first centuries BC and AD. The broch's walls display the sophisticated dry-stone masonry characteristic of Iron Age fortified settlements, with evidence of internal galleries within the thick defensive walls. As one of the better-preserved examples of this distinctive Scottish monument type, Dun Dornaigil provides important archaeological evidence for the settlement patterns and defensive architecture of Iron Age Highland communities.
