Duncote Farm moated site is a medieval defensive settlement located in Derbyshire, England. The monument consists of a substantial moat that formerly enclosed a farmstead, representing a common form of medieval domestic fortification employed by minor gentry and substantial farmers from the twelfth century onwards. The site's earthwork remains preserve evidence of the moat system, which would have provided both defensive protection and a practical water supply for the medieval settlement. Such moated sites are particularly numerous in the Midlands and characterise the period of rural expansion and consolidation during the medieval period.
