Dunloskin Wood is a charcoal production area located in Argyllshire, Scotland, comprising a series of platforms constructed to facilitate the manufacture of charcoal from wood fuel. The site consists of multiple levelled working surfaces typical of medieval and early modern charcoal-burning operations, where wood was converted into charcoal through controlled pyrolysis in temporary kilns. Such production sites were essential to the local economy and to supplying fuel for metalworking, domestic heating, and other industrial processes across the region. The platforms and associated features at Dunloskin Wood represent the physical remains of this widespread but often archaeologically understudied form of resource exploitation in the Scottish Highlands.
