Farleigh Hungerford Castle is a 14th-century fortified manor house located near the village of Farleigh Hungerford in Somerset. The castle was founded by Sir Thomas Hungerford in 1369 and comprises two wards enclosed by stone walls with corner towers, representing a significant example of late medieval military architecture adapted for residential purposes. The inner ward contains the remains of the great hall, kitchen, and other domestic structures, while the outer ward served defensive and administrative functions. The site passed through various hands during the Tudor and Stuart periods and was slighted during the English Civil War, though substantial portions of the walls and towers survive today as testament to its original importance as a baronial stronghold.
