Farleigh Hungerford Castle is a medieval fortified manor house located in Somerset, England, founded in the late fourteenth century by Sir Thomas Hungerford. The castle comprises an inner and outer ward enclosed by curtain walls and corner towers, with residential accommodation including a kitchen and solar, reflecting its function as both a stronghold and aristocratic residence. The site retains substantial masonry from its medieval period, including portions of the curtain walls and the chapel dedicated to Saint Leonard, which contains notable tombs of the Hungerford family. The castle remained in the hands of the Hungerford family throughout the medieval and early modern periods until its decline in the eighteenth century, and is now cared for by English Heritage as a scheduled monument.
