The monument comprises thirteen cairns and a standing stone arranged within a system of field walls, representing a period of settlement and cultivation before peat accumulation engulfed the area. The site lies on Neoproterozoic mafic igneous bedrock, part of an ancient intrusion that has shaped the local geology for over 600 million years.
