Fletcherfield enclosure is a post-medieval field boundary monument located in Angus, Scotland, situated approximately 100 metres south-east of Fletcherfield itself. The site is protected as a scheduled monument by Historic Environment Scotland under reference SM5911.
The enclosure was constructed on bedrock of the Arbuttnott-Garvock Group, a geological formation dating to the Pragian period. This bedrock comprises sandstone as the dominant stone type, interspersed with subordinate bands of conglomerate, siltstone and mudstone. These local stone resources would have been readily available for building the enclosure's walls and boundaries.
As a post-medieval monument, the enclosure represents the period of agricultural reorganisation and field division that characterised rural Scotland from approximately the sixteenth century onwards. Such enclosed fields reflect changing land management practices and property demarcation in the early modern period, recording the landscape's transformation as traditional communal agriculture gave way to more formally bounded and individually managed holdings.
