Glaze Meet blowing house is a tin smelting site located in Devon, representing an important centre of tin processing during the medieval and early modern periods. The blowing house, also known as a tinner's foundry, employed water-powered bellows to achieve the high temperatures necessary for smelting tin ore, a technology that became established in Devon and Cornwall from around the fourteenth century onwards. The site's physical remains reflect the substantial infrastructure required for this industrial process, including evidence of the structures and watercourse management essential to its operation. As a designated ancient monument, Glaze Meet represents the archaeological heritage of Devon's historic tin-working industry and the development of metal-processing technology in the southwest of England.
