Greenwich Hospital (RN College) is a major architectural complex located in Greenwich, London, which served as a naval institution from the eighteenth century onwards. The hospital was established in the late seventeenth century under royal patronage and developed throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries as a purpose-built establishment for the care and accommodation of retired naval officers and men. The complex comprises a number of substantial buildings arranged around formal courtyards, designed by leading architects including Christopher Wren and subsequent craftsmen, and demonstrates the architectural conventions of institutional design across multiple periods.
