Hadrian's Wall and vallum in wall mile 7, Denton section at West Denton is a scheduled ancient monument comprising elements of the Roman frontier defence system constructed during the reign of Emperor Hadrian in the second century AD. The site preserves sections of the stone wall itself alongside the vallum, the substantial earthwork ditch and bank system that ran parallel to the wall on its southern side, integral to the military organization of the frontier. Denton Turret, situated within this wall mile, exemplifies the small fortified turrets positioned at regular intervals along the wall's length to provide surveillance and control over movement along the frontier.
