Hagnaby Abbey is a Premonstratensian house founded in the twelfth century in the parish of Hagnaby, Lincolnshire. The abbey was established as part of the network of White Canons communities across medieval England and operated until the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the sixteenth century. Following the Dissolution, the site was developed as a post-medieval house with formal gardens, representing the transformation of monastic landscapes into domestic estates characteristic of the early modern period. The surviving structures and earthworks at Hagnaby preserve evidence of both its monastic and later residential phases, making it significant for understanding the continuity and change of English ecclesiastical and domestic architecture.
