Hawton moated site, fishpond, Civil War redoubt and ridge and furrow is a complex of overlapping medieval and early modern earthworks located in Nottinghamshire. The site comprises a moated enclosure of medieval date, associated fishponds used for freshwater fish farming, and ridge and furrow field systems indicative of medieval arable agriculture. A Civil War period defensive redoubt was subsequently constructed upon or adjacent to the earlier medieval features, demonstrating the site's continued strategic significance during the seventeenth-century conflict. The combination of these features provides archaeological evidence for the evolution of land use and settlement patterns from the medieval period through the English Civil War era.
