History & significance

Holmbush Mine is a rotative engine house with associated boiler house, loadings and platform located on Windsor Lane in Cornwall, England. The structure dates from the nineteenth century and represents the industrial mining heritage of the Cornish tin and copper mining industry during its period of technological development. The rotative engine house would have housed machinery driven by a stationary steam engine, powered by the adjacent boiler house, to facilitate the extraction and processing of minerals from the mine. The loadings and platform served the practical functions of the working mining operation, facilitating the movement and handling of ore and materials on site.
