History & significance

Holmbush Mine is a rotative engine house with associated boiler house, loadings and platform located on Windsor Lane in Cornwall. The structure dates from the industrial period of Cornish tin and copper mining, when such engine houses powered the machinery essential to mineral extraction and processing. The rotative engine house represents the technological advancement of the nineteenth-century mining industry, designed to house the steam engine that drove the pumping and hauling mechanisms critical to deep mining operations.
