The site includes prehistoric hut circles arranged within an ancient field system, overlain by evidence of Romano-British occupation and activity. Lead ore working, undertaken through the hydraulic mining technique of hushing, represents a later phase of mineral extraction on the site. The layered archaeological sequence demonstrates sustained use of this upland location for habitation and resource exploitation across more than two thousand years.
