Icehouse in Danbury Country Park is a nineteenth-century ice storage structure located approximately 130 metres south of Home Farm in Danbury, Essex. The building represents a functional example of domestic ice preservation technology, which was essential to estates before the widespread adoption of mechanical refrigeration. Constructed of brick and designed with insulating properties typical of such structures, the icehouse would have been used to store ice harvested from nearby ponds and lakes during winter months for use throughout the warmer seasons.
