Kemps Castle is an Iron Age fort situated 320 metres south-west of Euchan Bridge in Dumfriesshire, Scotland. The site occupies bedrock of the Scottish Coal Measures Group, a sequence of mudstone, siltstone, sandstone and ironstone formations dating to the Moscovian epoch. These underlying deposits, capped by ferricrete, would have provided a substantial natural foundation for the fort's defences.
