Kilmun enclosure, located 600 metres west-southwest of Kilmun in Argyllshire, is a post-medieval field enclosure. The site comprises a stone-built rectangular or rectilinear boundary structure typical of agricultural land management practices in early modern Scotland. As a post-medieval feature, it reflects the reorganisation of rural landscapes and farming practices that characterised the period following the sixteenth century, when enclosure of previously open or communal land became increasingly common in lowland and valley areas of the Scottish Highlands and south-west. The monument survives as a substantial earthwork or stone structure that contributes to understanding the economic and social development of this region during the early modern period.
