Lathkill Dale and Mandale mines and soughs is a complex of lead and fluorspar mining remains located in Derbyshire's Peak District. The mines date primarily from the medieval period onwards, with significant expansion during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries as mining technology and demand for minerals increased. The site comprises extensive underground workings, including soughs—drainage tunnels that were essential for removing water from deep mine shafts and enabling deeper exploitation of the ore bodies. The surviving physical remains include visible shaft collars, mining scars across the dale landscape, and sections of the sough system that represent important evidence of medieval and post-medieval extractive industry and engineering practice in the English Midlands.
