Loughbrickland fort is a bivallate rath situated near Banbridge in County Down, Northern Ireland. The monument consists of two concentric earthen banks with intervening ditches, a defensive arrangement typical of early medieval Irish raths dating to the early Christian period. Such fortified homesteads served as the residences and strongholds of local élites during the early medieval centuries and functioned as centres of pastoral farming and social organisation. The physical remains at Loughbrickland preserve evidence of this important phase of Irish settlement history, though like many raths the site has been subject to agricultural modification over the centuries.
