Lovat Scouts' First World War training trenches at Docking is a scheduled ancient monument comprising the remains of a training system constructed during the First World War. The trenches were dug to provide realistic conditions for the Lovat Scouts, a Scottish territorial unit, to prepare for active service on the Western Front. The site preserves evidence of the constructed landscape of military preparation during the war, with surviving sections of trench lines and associated earthworks still visible in the Norfolk landscape. These remains represent an important record of how forces were conditioned and equipped for trench warfare between 1914 and 1918.
