Mar, townships, enclosures, stills, kilns and Dubrach is a post-medieval settlement complex lying east of Dalvorar in Aberdeenshire. The site comprises the remains of townships, field enclosures, and industrial structures including stills and kilns, reflecting the varied economic activities of rural communities in the area during the early modern period. These features are distributed across landscape underlain by Grampian Group bedrock, composed of psammite and semipelite formed during the Neoproterozoic era.
The presence of stills indicates whisky production, an activity that became widespread across the Scottish Highlands during the eighteenth century, whilst the kilns suggest lime-burning or grain-drying operations essential to agricultural and building activities. The township layout and associated field systems demonstrate how communities organised their settlement and cultivated the surrounding land.
