South Park Farm moated site is a medieval settlement earthwork located in Surrey, England. The moated enclosure, typically dating to the medieval period, represents a form of domestic and agricultural settlement that was common amongst farming communities in southern England from the twelfth century onwards. The site consists of water-filled or partially water-filled ditches defining the boundary of the occupied area, a defensive and status-defining feature of medieval rural settlement. Such moated sites often indicate the residence of a person of some local importance, and the South Park Farm example contributes to our understanding of medieval settlement patterns and land use in the Surrey region.
