The medieval settlement and open field system immediately south-east of Low Farm is a scheduled monument comprising the remains of a nucleated village settlement and its associated agricultural landscape, dating to the medieval period. The site preserves earthwork evidence of former settlement structures and the ridge-and-furrow cultivation patterns characteristic of the open field farming system practised across much of the English Midlands during the medieval and early post-medieval centuries. The survival of these earthworks provides valuable archaeological testimony to the organisation of both settlement and agrarian life in this part of Nottinghamshire during the medieval period.
