Mersington House is a deserted medieval village situated in Berwickshire, Scotland, approximately 100 metres southwest of the modern settlement from which it takes its name. The site represents the remains of a medieval rural settlement, with archaeological evidence suggesting occupation during the medieval period. The physical character of the settlement is preserved in the form of earthworks and surface scatters that mark former buildings and enclosures. The site's abandonment reflects the broader patterns of settlement change that occurred in the Scottish Borders during the later medieval and post-medieval periods, when economic and social pressures led to the depopulation of numerous small rural communities.
