Mickleden Beck is a complex archaeological site in Westmorland encompassing Bronze Age and medieval remains located approximately 840 metres south-west of Pike of Stickle. The site comprises a prehistoric cairnfield and field system of Bronze Age date, together with funerary cairns characteristic of that period's burial practices, alongside evidence of a medieval dispersed settlement whose layout and organisation reflect medieval upland settlement patterns. The juxtaposition of Bronze Age and medieval occupation demonstrates long-term human use of this Lakeland terrain, with the prehistoric elements representing ritual and domestic activity typical of the second millennium before Christ, whilst the medieval phase reflects later pastoral and agricultural exploitation of the valley floor and surrounding slopes.
