Moated site 725m north east of Mount Pleasant Farm is a medieval defensive or domestic enclosure in Gloucestershire. The monument comprises a substantial earthwork consisting of a water-filled or water-retaining ditch surrounding a raised central platform, a form of fortification and residence characteristic of the 12th to 16th centuries. Such moated sites were common amongst minor gentry and substantial landholders throughout medieval England, serving both as symbols of status and practical means of defence and drainage. The survival of the earthwork indicates the site's abandonment from the medieval period onwards, allowing the landscape feature to remain archaeologically significant as evidence of settlement patterns and social hierarchy in the Gloucestershire countryside.
